i'm new to this, internet security...yeah i know...shocking, better late then never ha? anyways i was wondering if someone could steer me in the right direction to an anonymous provider that works well (safari, ichat, aim, etc.) with os x 10.3.9 or 10.4 and provides good tech.

i've visited metropipe, findnot, anonymizer. costse, ipeliminator - which appear to be the biggest, though metropipe seems to be the only mac literate of the bunch...can anyone tell me if they're other companies worth looking at?

thanks for any info...

isn't that a network of people's computers, meaning, for everyone that signs up - their computers become part of the "onion router"?

friends tell me they're some anonymous providers that use already hacked people's computers & servers to flow traffic. urban legend or true?

Yes, that's the basic premise, I have never used it myself though.
The legend is true in some cases I beleive.
