Is there any chance of a Macintosh forum?
I keep encountering problems while using macs (maybe cos there not very good who knows) and i was wondering could we setup a Mac related forum for all the unlucky network admins which have to deal with these machines

Thanks for this superb conceptual inclination.
A duplicate thought had crossed my mind, many moons ago,
but between never growing from that secular whim and burying
itself deep into other endeavors, it was long forgotten.
As security events are increasingly popular within the Macintosh
community, this just may be a future source of hefty, volumed
discussions on the matter. To further my advocation of this forum,
there exists the Mac Crypto conference, which suggests the added
emphasis on cryptography (a specific I could contribute to, if this
forum is in place). 
It would spark the interest of resident, yet dormant, Mac junkies,
as well as provide a medium of mutual benefit between these gurus,
and folks like me, who are slowly transitioning to the Macintosh
scene (in my case, it's the advantageous use of a dual G5, for
cryptanalytical purposes). As I am somewhat of a neophyte to
to Mac-specifics, having such a medium at my disposal would be
incredibly convenient, not to mention, highly beneficial. I'm sure
many others, aside from Cheeseplant and I, can relate, respectively.
This logical, and rather genius, idea is being contemplated amongst
us moderators and administrators. I certainly feel that it would open
a new sect of security (but not limited to) discussion and complete our
site's catering of widely-executed platforms.

I'd be very interested in a Mac forum, as long as it doesn't degenerate into why PC is better than Mac or why Mac is better than PC, not to mention linux
Actually, I've used a Mac for many years and I've encounterd and solved numerous problems that I could maybe help others with. I don't have much to contribute to the rest of security forums as I don't use a PC, but I could maybe help out with Macs. The IT support at my work hates Macs and were adamant I couldn't link mine to their PC network. However, I've had no real problems, much to their surprise, and I think it's unfamiliarity with the platform that leads people to believe that the machines are "not that good".

There are already a number of mac forums out there, although you do have to listen to a lot of that "pee-cee's suck" kind of stuff.
(Side note... Why is it that when PC users find out I own a mac they don't care, but when mac users find out I own a PC, I get crap for it?)
Anyway, we sort of do have a Mac forum, in a way...
OSX is actually BSD Unix (or close enough to make no nevermind), so we do have the unix fourm.
Having said all that, it probably wouldn't suck to have a mac forum HERE.
But do we have enough mac-heads to make it work?

Seriously though, this forum is fast becoming the place to go for all computer problems and related topics. Mac users are no different, they're probably lurking around but don't think there's any Mac knowledge about so don't post. Even if they thought to post anyway, they'd probably not have a clue where to place it. I put a Mac-related post in the unix section though as I thought it was the most appropriate place

The issue is currently under discussion ... will try and let you all know as soon as possible the outcome of this.
In the meantime, feel free to post any Mac related security issues in the Unix forum. If a new Mac forum is created, we will move all such related topics into it from the Unix Forum.

Please feel free to post any Mac related issues in the Macintosh forum here.
(And please, no "Mac-bashing" posts. Leave the opinions of the best computer platform on some other site ... we will not allow it here.)

Even though I don't own an Apple computer, this is a very cool thing for all the Apple owners out there. I've been contemplating on getting an Apple 12" G4 iBook for a while now, but not really sure if I want to head down that path or not. But, it will be fun to read the posts that are included in this new forum.

...
Haha.. ok, maybe it wasn't that funny, but everything is funny when you've been awake for a couple of days.. well, either funny or demonic. Anyway, congrats on the forum, fill it up with usefull info.. I don't know much about Macs and their use in the corporate network environment....

yay. thats me. though 99% of our computer are mac
they even run mac servers. crikey. what were they thinking.
so i have gained quite a bit of experience in dealing with macs and can help out if needed
