In Leopard...

... in the Finder in my side panel under SHARED there's an item called 'thomson' has appeared which is identified at the top of the main window as 'Connected as: Guest'. There are no items in the main Finder window when I click on thomson. As there is no option to eject this item does that mean it is someone connected to me? If I do a 'get info' on thomson it tells me it's a PC server. If I pull out my internet connection thomson disappears. He returns as soon as I plug the cable back in. Anyone have any idea what or who this is? Should I be worried?

Cheers
Karl

I have it too and I'm using Tiger. I did a Google search and found this: http://www.thomson-broadband.co.uk/codepages/content3.asp?c=7&ProductID=471

Quote:
Thomson ST 330

The SpeedTouch 330 is a bus powered USB ADSL modem suitable for connecting one PC or Apple Mac to a standard broadband line.

I'd surmise that "Thomson" is your modem, since it disappears when you pull the plug.

Does anyone else know for sure?

Yes, it does indeed look as if 'thomson' is just the BT Home Hub showing up. Seems we're not the only ones with this oddity as it's been popping up on quite a few discussions across the net. So it looks like panic over.

Cheers
