Hi!

I have a flash drive. When I insert it on my computer it is detected but when I try to click on it on my computer it would just say Please insert a disk. When I try to format it it would say the same. I have a windows XP machine. I tried recovering the files using a software and it did recover the files but windows cannot open the device. It is detected by windows but it doesnt open. Please help...

Tnx

Do you have another machine you could try it on, and more importantly did you back up the files?

I tried it already in other machines but I still have the same problem, I used a program to access the contents of the flash drive so in other words there is no problem with the data inside it. My only concern is that Windows detects it and gives it a drive letter but when I double click on the drive it would not open.

Does windows let you view the details of the drive in the Disk Management part of the mmc?

if so try running scan disk etc.

Also have you tried taking a disk image?

Windows does not give details in Disk Management or even when I right click on the drive.

At this point I would be trying to get as many documents off there accessing it like you have been and then get rid of the USB drive TBH, it sounds like its about to die!

Is there really no way of reviving it? WIndows detects it but it cannot be accessed. Maybe someone out there could really help.
