It was something like www.pingmyserver.com which seems to be down at the moment.
It would routinely ping a set of IP addresses / hostnames and alert you via SMS of any downtime.
Does anyone have or use this service now. Doesnt matter if it isnt free, accuracy is more important

If anyone knows how to send SMS from a perl script, these 2 could be put together to provide a solution.

Did you find anything that allows you to send anything via SMS?
I am now it that position, where i would like to send text messages from the linux command line. Would be used for server satus monitoring, but just being able to send SMS from cmdline would be great.The rest of it i could program myself (i hope)
