So the story basically goes like this. I was installing Xubuntu on my Wintel box. I decided to partition my 80gig random Chinese drive with 29 GB Windows and the rest Linux. I clicked begin partition and we then had a power outage. My computer shut down in the middle of the partitioning process and caused my drive to show up as a 37.9 GB drive. How can I get the rest of my Hard Drive back? I would like to avoid re-installing the OS but I will under worst case scenario.

Well, if you need to create, destroy, resize, check or copy partitions, one of the best Linux tools is Gnu Parted (http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/index.shtml)

For partition-related recovery I would recommend the excellent (and free/open source) TestDisk software.

For filesystem forensics, you can use the very powerful The Sleuth Kit.
