    ----
ok i had a computer blow a motherboard and i have an older compaq i am installing the hdd on. messing with the jumper settings i was able to get the bios to see the drive. when i try to boot from it, it gives me the windows was not shut down properly message and asks if want to boot normally or safe mode etc... whatever i pick, it continually goes to that screen and it says hardware of software changes might be the cause, please insert OS disk and run repair, which i have been doing half the day. after the repair i reboot and still get the same problem.
the HDD is a WD3200aaks with vista home premium OS
the older computer is a compaq SR1303WM.

if anyone can help me with this or point me in tghe right direction, i would appreciate it much .. thx

Try the options in the Advanced Boot Options which give you more tools to diagnose and repair your system. To access this mode press F8 while booting either from the hard drive or the windows installation DVD media.
