IPCop as it provides Squid, security and dyndns support, easy web based logs etc etc..
Router provides er, routing
I'd probably have both, but you don't need IPCop if you have a router, I'd build another firewall with the linux box to put between the router and the network with IDS etc.

Yeh the GUI is mint, one of the best I've seen, loads of features but simple to use, great logging and traffic stats too.
Don't need a GUI on the actual machine cos it don't have a monitor/keyboard/mouse and gets kept in a cupboard or something heh

Well thing is the IPCop machine aint mine, I sorta nicked it.
My mates p2 300 that needed a rebuild. I rebuilt it, hes seen it working again but I said he aint having it back. Thing is he lives miles away from me and cant drive so he either has to carry it or let me keep it!
Might stick Mandrake on it, any suggestions for what I could use it for?

Firewall/IDS/UT2003 server
mp3 share with icecast running, use it for browsing the web/e-mail etc..
Can use it for anything you want to use it for really.
First and foremost though, use it for learning.
