I have IBM server (eserver xSeries 225 type 8647) and its working fine. but few some days it went slow when i check Task Manager it show system useing 20-30 % cpu continue and in network pane useing 80-90% traffice and server hard disk making noise when i run chkdsk there is no bad secter. I don'nt no what is reason for slowness when user save his file it when freez for few second.
is anyone can tell me reason for it. one more question how i can check capacity that how many users it support...?
Weird hard drive noises can be early warning signs of disk failure. I'd go ahead and back up any critical data on the drive, just to be safe. I would say this is even more likely in this case since it's combined with slower-than-usual access times despite CPU/network traffic being normal.
Now if you're hearing an increase in normal hard drive noises, along with maybe an increase in CPU/network consumption, then a virus/worm would be a possibility as well.
When the drive actually fails, it is a mechanical failure. Many times you will actually hear the drive making strange metallic noises. This is the read/write head thrashing around aimlessly and indicates failure.
