i am installing a new server (sql 2008) and for the life of me cannot get the ip ( ip v4 and ip v6) to configure to a static address and work. any one can walk e thru this would help..

1)Click Start, click Control Panel.
2) In the Control Panel window. Double-click Network Connections.
3) Network Connections window appears. Right-click Local Area Connection to identify the correct network adapter and then click Properties.
4) Select Internet Protocol (TCP / IP). Select Properties.

You can retrieve your IP address using a command prompt by simply type the word IP config then press enter.
