So I was listening to BBC Radio 4 the other day and they have an IT related show and this day they were talking about mobile Internet. Now I want to whinge to someone/anyone that will listen.

The programme talked up at how great it was and how we were getting fantastic speeds. One guy was talking about how he gets great speed on the train from Glasgow. Now I travel on the this line from London a fair bit and if I can get a connection I get 10/20k/sec!

Now they had this guy from one of the providers, I think, on the programme saying how fast it was and what plans they had for the future and how mobile comms is now good enough to work from. Well I hate to break it to him I wasn't working remotely in the mid 90's when my modem was working at the same speed at my 3G card!

It appears that it doesn't matter where I go I very rarely have a signal good enough to run a IMAP through a IPSec tunnel.

Any other UK mobile Internet users have the same issues? If so, which network are you one? Any reports of good providers?
