We use Windows server 2003 R2 Standard Edition as a domain controller. For some unavoidable reason we had to reset the password of our Domain controller as the original admin password was lost. After resetting the password we are unable to access the admin side of the server, even though the domain controller is working and is used by the staff we are unable to modify anything.

When we try to logon to the server there is a Logon Message which says:- “The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively”

And the PC which was used previously to access the server via “Remote Desktop Connection” gives a logon Message:- “To logon to this remote computer, you must be granted to allow logon through terminal service right. By default members of the remote desktop user group have this right. If you are not a member of the remote desktop user group or another group that has this right or if the desktop user group does not have this right, you must be granted the right manually”.

Any suggestions please?

You need to check and probably modify the local security policy on your Domain Controller. Are you able to login to the server at all? Any Domain Administrator account should work.

What did you do to reset the password?

Did you go through the Directory Service Restore Mode?
