Dear All,

I am trying to get my new Windows 2008 R2 Server to act as a VPN Node and I have been following the instructions for generating a Domain Certificate from this excellent post from Thomas Shinder:

http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Configuring-Windows-Server-2008-Remote-Access-SSL-VPN-Server-Part2.html

I get to Step 7 on the page on the Online Certification Authority and press the Finish button, I get the following error message.

---------------------------
Create Certificate
---------------------------
There was an error while performing this operation.

Details:

CCertRequest::Submit: Class not registered 0x80040154 (-2147221164)
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I cannot find anywhere else where they have this same problem in generating certificates with Windows 2008 R2 Standard.

1) Why don't Microsoft say which class is not registered in the error message?
2) Why does the Event Log not include an entry for this?
3) What have I not done and/or what has gone wrong?

The machine is brand new and just built a day before I started configuring the VPN and certificates.

HELP and thanks in advance...

Kindest regards,

QuietLeni
