Hi,

I've been using RIS (Remote Installation Service) for a long time and I like it. I use it to install Windows operating systems (XP). I like it because you just need to go the PC and boot to the network and it will find the RIS server. In my current company we are using Ghost cast server to mass deploy Operating Systems. What I dont like about this is that you need to have a usb or cd that has the ghost client. You need to boot to these devices in order for it to contact the Ghost cast server.

Is there a way that Ghost can do about without the need for a usb or cd?

That is what I like about RIS is that you can deploy OS without the need for these devices. Also, with RIS the computer is already joined to the domain with all the settings you like. Also, before RIS proceeds installing it will ask you for a computer name that you like to have with the PC.

Maybe somebody here can help me out with a technique that can make ghost do what RIS can do.

Thanks!

You need to boot Ghost over PXE through the NIC - see this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XyEiYkrRNw
