Can the fan run without connecting to mother board?

My case has 4 fans preinstalled, my motheeboard has 2 fan ports and a cpu can port, all my fans have this 4 pin connector rhat mynpower supply can connect to, so can they run by connectingbto the power supply or is it just gonna not move?

You need fan cable adapters that convert from the PSU connector to the motherboard type! They need to be controlled by the m/b.
