Hi Everyone,

Starting to see a bit of an odd error on my network, sometimes on our windows 7 machines when a user logs on and accesses their documents folder some of the folders have a red cross next to them even though they are on the server and they have network access as they are able to browse both our intranet and the internet without problems...

Normally a reboot fixes the issue but sometimes it takes a few reboots... has anyone seen this problem and have a fix for it?

Notes:
-firewalls are turned off on client and server
-client and server can both ping each other without lost packets
-a flush of dns and arp cache doesn't work (ipconfig /flushdns -- Arp -d) it takes a reboot of the machine to resolve
-user has correct security permissions as once the cross is gone they can access the documents as normal
-client and server are both up to date with windows update
-server is running server 2003 client is windows 7

hope someone can help me get to the bottom of the problem...

May be it has to do with the non-persistant flag of mapped drives. check this article - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2551503/
