Hi,

I have a question about restoring a baremetal/system state backup to a new machine.

- Does baremetal or system state backup backup the RAID configurations?

- Does the new machine have to have the same hardware specs as with the machine where the backup came from?

- Does the new machine need to have the same raid configuration or harddisk size as the machine where the backup came from?

No - most backup software only will back up data at the OS level

This depends on your backup software. Most backup platforms can restore to different types of hardware

I'm using windows server backup which is a feature of windows server 2008. So does this restore to different hardware types?

It can be done. You will need to load the appropriate drivers during the restore. The following link has complete instructions:
